SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans –
STRENGTH
- Harmonious relationship among the staff, students and parents
- High success rates in examinations as compared to other faculty.
- The Laboratory of Zoology Department has well equipped with modern Facilities like LCD, , Computers with internet facility.
- Well qualified and experienced faculty member and energetic and encomiastic supporting staff.
- All sanctioned posts are filled.
- In academic session 2020-21 we have online obtained Three Hundred thirty two application forms for entry level class B.Sc. first year but due to limitation of seats only 70 students have been admitted. And also we received more then 600 ( six hundred) application for M.Sc. Zoology against 30 seats, High demand ratio = )
- Funding from RUSA to enrich the laboratory of the department.
- Library with n-List facility.
WEAKNESS:-
- Teacher Student ratio is very high.
- Lack of awareness of students.
- Lack of Animal house
- Lack of large laboratories for students and also separate classand laboratory for PG students.
- Paucity of time for the teachers for research work.
OPPORTUNITY:-
- The department has also wants to establishing a research lab to understand the phenomenon of origin of life and construction and characterization of protocell-like models in laboratory simulated plausible prebiotic atmosphere.
- Scope for field based research activities.
- In this area the biodiversity is very rich especially of Boney bee, and snakes. So a research facility and snake park were required to develop for the basic research in the field.
- The Department of Zoology will utilize the grant given by the RUSA.
- The Department has planned to take the financial support of College JBS.
- Students are motivated and guided by able faculty member to get higher degree and appear in NET, SLET and other competitive exams.
- Confidence building through seminars and group discussions and personality development through interactive sessions
- Department gives platform to the students to show their potential and knowledge by conducting seminars and giving projects etc.
CHALLENGES:-
- To cope-up with the students from rural background.
- Student-teacher ratio is unexpectedly high at the UG level.
- To teach and conduct practical classes of the students with poor foundation and background.
- Having no Departmental Library.
- We have no separate class and large Laboratory.
- To enhance employability of students
- Financial constraints in up gradation of laboratory.
FUTURE PLAN
- To organize National/International level seminar/ conference.
- To organize Programs on personality development.
- To generate departmental Library
